Rotarians,
We have another great topic this week that is timely and important to our community. Craig Broeren will be giving us information on the WRPS referendum to vote on in the spring election. Please don’t hesitate to invite guests and friends.
This week’s announcements…
Did you donate yet? Foundation Fund Drive, please give ASAP to help keep this drive efficient and effective… We will be running our annual local foundation fund drive from March 1, 2021 – April 15, 2021. You should have received a letter in your snail mail early April with an overview of our foundation fund drive. As of Friday March 19 we have heard from 40% of our membership. As WR Noon Rotarians we individually try give to two (or more) funds, the Rotary International Annual Fund, and the local Noon Club Foundation. This fund drive is for our local foundation and the funds support the work our local foundation does. We ask for each member to give $250.00 if they can. Our biggest goal is that we get 100% participation. The Rotary International Annual Fund is our “Every Rotarian Every Year” giving of $100. We have shifted our fund drive and are asking that club members do their giving or decline in a timely manner. This giving sets the foundation budget for 2021-2022 Rotary Year. Thank you to those that have already given!
Chris Severson, Executive Dean and Wisconsin Rapids Campus Dean at Mid-State Technical College, to be joining Noon Rotary… We are excited to have Chris Severson joining our club. He has been brought to the board of directors by the membership committee and approved for membership because he is believed to be a positive community role model, a leader in her profession and embodies the spirit of service and goodwill. In accordance with our club bylaws current members have one week to raise a formal objection by e-mailing Sue Sippel at director
director@familyctr.org.
World Water Day focuses on water’s importance… The COVID-19
pandemic has made it clearer than ever that hand washing — which requires a safe water source — is essential to our health. Yet more than 2 billion people worldwide don’t have access to clean water. Since 2014, The Rotary Foundation has invested more than $51 million in global grants to enable clubs to carry out projects that help people around the world with clean water, sanitation, and hygiene. For World Water Day on 22 March,
learn how you can get involved in a water project and give to support our work in this area through our
Donate page. Go to the
Areas of Focus tab and choose
Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene.
Welcome Chris Stines, President of Aspirus Riverview Hospital and Clinics as our newest member… Chris was inducted at last weeks meeting. We are excited to have him joining our club and look forward to his contributions in the future.
Results are in on the survey regarding the future style of meeting in our current state of the pandemic… There were 28 total responses, and 62% stated they would attend an in person meeting with the precautions outlined in the survey. We have started the wheels in motion and will keep you updated on when we will first be hosting an in person portion of our meetings. We will continue to have an offsite “Zoom” option. Many clubs in the district and around the world are working toward this as well to offer flexibility to its club members to join in fellowship the way they see most appropriate for themselves and their current situation. Stay tuned to when you will see our meeting shift to “Room and Zoom” or a “Parallel Meeting”.
Please e-mail mdironside@uwalumni.com if you have technical skills that could help optimize this style of meeting, or if you would be willing to help with some of the AV details during the meeting.
Welcome March Youth Rotars - Joining us from LHS we have Matthew Moyer, Bria Moore, and Kaitlyn Pyburn. As always make them feel welcome, help introduce them to what Rotary is and does. We are community role models.
